Farm Environment Plan

The Farm Environment Plan (FEP) guidance leaflet has been placed on the DEFRA web-site:

This explains what applicants will need to do produce PRIOR to applying for the new Environmental Stewardship Scheme. It is being sent to anyone who has an existing agreement expiring in 2005, as they will be the first to need one.
It is expected that experienced consultants (such as ourselves) will be requested to do most of the FEP plans, as specialist knowledge is required. A summary of payment rates is included in the leaflet. DEFRA will pay upto £3200 for a Farm Environment Plan, which is quite amazing. The amount of payment relates to the size of the holding.
DEFRA are encouraging FEPs to be submitted electronically, though they are currently having trouble with the system!
