Mid-Term Review

Nov 3, 2003

The continuing uncertainty caused by the Mid-term Review of the Common Agricultural Policy is causing many land agents to advise clients to do nothing until mid-2004, when the new rules will be announced.

At Manners & Bareau, however, we are still looking at several large scale Stewardship and Woodland plans for the 2004 application window. DEFRA are looking for a special type of application this year: they want to see fully worked-up applications submitted by experienced advisors. In other words, the kind of application that we generally submit. In fact, we have been asked by the North York Moors National Park to handle all their enquiries for the 2004 round. In regard of the introduction of the SFP (Single Farm Payment) we are assured that money will be put aside for claimants who feel that they have lost money as a result of introducing agri-environment measures.
Give us a call for further advice.
