Common Land

DEFRA have just released their policy statement and consultation responses to the proposed changes to leglislation concerning common land and village greens. See the policy statement on a pdf file here.

Many proposals will help us to introduce positive management changes on common land. Section 194 consents will be able to be processed faster, and wildlife interests can be now considered. Importantly, it will be possible to add new village greens to the Commons Register.

Conclusion: a wide range of much needed changes. Lets hope the NFU and CLA don't suceed in trying to water down the proposals.
