Defence Estates: bat surveys
MAB have surveyed the entire base at RAF Menwith Hill near Harrogate for bats. We also regularly help Defence Estates in surveying for bats at Catterick Garrison. We are developing a bat mitigation plan at Catterick Garrison including a purpose-built bat house.
The North York Moors National Park Authority: Farm Environment Plans (FEP) and wildlife surveys
In 2005 and 2006 the National Park sub-contracted several Farm Environment Plans to us, mostly in Farndale, helping farmers to join the Higher Level Scheme.
Since 2005 we have had a contract with the National Park to monitor the regeneration of the Fylingdales Moor fire site. Each year we monitor and analyse quadrat data on the burn site, and provide annual reports published in the Moorland Review.
In 2006 we took on "Phase 2" NVC surveying of twenty sites of important grassland within the Park on behalf of the Park ecologist.
ADAS: Farm environment advice, Environmental Stewardship and Entry Level Scheme services
Under contract with Natural England to promote the Environmental Stewardship Schemes. We organise and deliver workshops, demonstrations and farm walks in Yorshire and the North East
The Church Commissioners: Bat Licence application and management.
We are working with the Church Commissioners and W. R. Dunn & Co of York to resolve problems relating to bats on one of their development projects, the creation of a new residence for the Bishop of Ripon, in Leeds. We have completed 12 months of surveys, obtained a European Protected Species (EPS) licence on their behalf, and we are now managing the implementation of the EPS licence through regular site meeting and liaison with contractors and architects.

Our regular clients include W.R. Dunn & Co or York, Margaret MacKinder, Fred Collin, Jon Steel, Francis Johnson and Partners, Farmoor Services, Severfield Reeve, Smiths Gore and many more"
Farms and Estates
We have worked extensively with several large farms and Estates in North Yorkshire. Our clients include the University of York, Arncliffe Farms, Danby and Wykeham Estates, the Kildale Estate, Gisborogh Estate, Urra Estate, and Hawnby Estate. For these clients we have produced wildlife surveys, management plans for ponds, bracken control management plans, as well as many grant scheme applications.
We also work for smaller clients, from individual farmers to small-holders. We currently have around 60 clients on our books, for whom we have carried out many tasks including around 40 Stewardship applications and 30 Upland Surveys, 10 pond management plans, 13 wildflower meadows plans (or 'arable reversion'), scrub control plans, woodland grant scheme applications, and so on.
Butterfly Conservation
We take on an annual Contract to manage habitat on behalf of Butterfly Conservation, a registered UK charity. The habitat is managed to benefit the Duke of Burgundy butterfly, which is found at its most northerly in the North York Moors National Park. This work is done with the consent of local landwoners.
Tilhill Forestry
MAB are contacted regularly by Tilhill Forestry Ltd in order to survey trees for bats while Tilhill Forestry are undertaking powerline clearance for National Grid.
Natural England
MAB Environmental Management developed the Forge Valley National Nature Reserve Management Plan Review, which was approved by Natural England in spring 2001. We also undertake Bat and Barn Owl surveys when requests are passed on to planning applicants.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust
We produced the management plan for Spurn Point Nature Reserve, using Conservation Management System software (CMS). We also assist in the management of some of their reserves, taking on scrub control and hedge planting.
The National Trust
We have surveyed their tenanted moorland at Blakey and Bridestones Moor.
FWAG
We have on occasion worked for FWAG helping them to deal with excess workloads. Our latest assistance was with the delivery of Farm Business Advisory Service Environmental Assessments on several North Yorks farms. We have also produced several Stewardship applications for FWAG.
