Heated Bat Boxes

Especially designed for mitigation (roost replacement) where the original roost was affected by a heat source such as behind boilers or heating pipes. Simply plug into a domestic supply, and it will cost about £14 per year to run. There is an insulated division within the box to create temperature gradients. The exterior is pure English oak, with a drop down hatch below for inspection (and to let droppings out). We are are able to modify the design for each order. Due to the pegged and sealed joints, this box will never warp. Box guaranteed for 20 yrs.

Internal heated bat boxes for use in lofts are constructed from sustainable plywood, as weather proofing and good looks are not important in these cases. The cost of an internal bat box of the same dimensions is £300 + VAT.

We can arrange for this box to be produced to your personal requirements. A recent order to Durham County Council has been built to mimic a dovecote. We can also render them in a variety of finishes to match the environment.

Solar powered heated bat box. We have been working on a prototype solar powered version of the heated bat box, which uses a 12v solar energy source, in response to situations where mitigation is required in the absence of power. The cost of the set-up has so far proved prohibitive (around £2000), but if you are interested please contact Giles, who will be happy to discuss this option.
